Bio

Hello. Thanks for stopping by. This site is about life. It’s a mixture of experiences, hopes, and ramblings of my life. It’s not a place to tell you how to do it. It’s more of a platform of expression, connection, and history where I describe my interactions and thoughts on the world as I see it.

When I was eight years old, I rode the bus to school. Each morning I would wait with my brother and sister for the giant, lumbering social experiment to pop over the top of the hill and pick us up. One morning as I walked up the steps on the bus, I realized it was unusually full. Another bus had broken down and we had extra students aboard. On that ride I met a smiling freckle faced girl. That smiling freckle faced girl has been my wife now for over nineteen years. We have two children. Our son was born in 2010 and our daughter was born in 2014.

I left for the Army as soon as I finished high school. I became a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. I spent almost sixteen months in those theaters and it has had a profound effect on the way I view the world.

I left the Army because I love to fly. I was a student for a year and then I built flight time as a flight instructor in Florida helping others to earn their pilot certificates. I was hired in 2006 by a commercial airline and spent about 9000+ hours in the last twelve years flying passenger jets around the US, Canada and Mexico.

In 2018 I got my dream job flying the Boeing 757 for a large cargo carrier. The entire year was a blur for our family. The beginning of the year we spent prepping for the job interview and it went well. Then the last several months of the year were spent in training. Learning a new aircraft, new industry, and new operating procedures took some serious time. My wife and kids all helped in many ways to make that dream possible.

Recently, I’ve started writing again since I have more free time. I enjoy the way writing crystallizes thoughts and makes you commit to a specific expression of experience. It also helps to preserve memories to look back on. I hope something I write about helps you on your journey.
